McLACHLIN SIGNS WITH CITI

1.10.08

The Golf Channel, The PGA TOUR and Citi, the leading global financial services company, today announced an innovative new mentor program to support aspiring newcomers on the PGA TOUR.

Through the program, Citi will sponsor four recent graduates of the PGA TOUR Qualifying Tournament – including Honolulu native Parker McLachlin – and provide them with a mentor for the 2008 season. For the first year of Citi’s mentor program, Paul Azinger will serve as Captain.

Through an integrated media plan, golf fans will receive exclusive access to the foursome as they embark on their journey of the 2008 season.

Q School is described by many in golf as one of the most pressure-filled events in the world. For the few graduates, however, the challenge has only begun; to keep their TOUR Cards beyond 2008, they must compete against the best golfers in the world. Each year, Citi will select four recent graduates of Q School and provide them with a seasoned veteran “Captain” to serve as a mentor to help guide them through the challenges of trying to perform at the highest level of professional golf.

Azinger, one of the most respected figures in the game, won the Q School event in 1984 and went on to capture 12 PGA TOUR titles. He is also the Captain of the 2008 US Ryder Cup Team.

“I am honored to be the captain of Citi’s mentor program,” said Azinger. “I look forward to helping these players reach their full potential on the PGA TOUR.”

The inaugural foursome of recent Q School graduates includes:

Hawaii’s Aloha Kid, Parker McLachlin, one of the best putters on the 2007 TOUR, looks to take his golf game to the next level after showing flashes of tremendous potential last year.

International up and comer, Jin Park, exuding class and a quiet confidence, this PGA TOUR rookie is looking to carryover his strong finish on the 2007 Asian Tour and his fourth place finish at Q School to the US. Park will join fellow South Korean, K.J. Choi on the 2008 PGA TOUR.

Big hitter from down under, David Lutterus, the youngest member of the group (22 years old), this powerful Australian will bring his talent and outgoing personality to golf’s grandest stage as 2008 marks his PGA TOUR debut.

Inspirational Todd Demsey, a survivor in every sense of the word, Demsey’s comeback story continues as he puts multiple surgeries for a brain tumor behind him and re-joins the PGA TOUR after a 10 year absence.

All four golfers, along with Captain Azinger, will wear a prominent Citi logo on their chest when competing on TOUR.

Integrated Media Platform

In addition to Citi’s presenting sponsor status of The Golf Channel’s broadcast of Q School, The Golf Channel will produce ongoing features showcasing Azinger’s role as mentor and updates on the four Q School graduates, including:

* Monthly features in Golf Channel News Franchise Programming
* In-broadcast feature during Friday round coverage of the following PGA TOUR events: Honda Classic, Crowne Plaza Invitational, Wyndham Championship, Turning Stone Championship

PGATOUR.com will host a micro-site that includes personal video/written content from the golfers that will be refreshed throughout the year.

Produced by PGA TOUR Productions, in association with NBC Sports, Citi will be the presenting sponsor of On the Brink, Presented by Citi, a 90-minute special that captures the excitement, emotion and competitive spirit of the Q School. On the Brink airs on NBC Saturday, January 12, at 3:30 p.m. ET.

Additional media channels supporting the mentor program will be revealed in the coming months.
